Despite having two churches, the Catholic congregation of Aberystwyth were forced to hold services in a school hall. The original church, within the centre of the town having been built on shifting sand and in danger of collapse, whilst the second had been closed and vandalised.

Oriel Architects were appointed to design and project manage works to refurbish the newer of the two churches, carry out alterations and bring it up to a standard as befits a modern church and its congregation.

The works included repairing the roof decking, weatherproofing the roof and walls, providing new welfare facilities internally and new finishes throughout. Improved energy efficiency has been introduced through the use of roof and wall insulation, high efficiency electric heaters and led lighting, whilst disabled facilities have been provided through the inclusion of an external ramp, level threshold, level access throughout and a disabled access toilet.

The re-opening of the church was marked by a re-consecration service and regular services within a proper home are now held throughout the week.
